On-Label (Insurance-Approved) Conditions
If you have one of the FDA-approved indications listed below, you should first consult a hospital-based hyperbaric program. These conditions are considered “on-label” and are typically covered by most insurance providers.
Approved indications include:
- Air or gas embolism
- Gas gangrene
- Crush injury
- Compartment syndrome
- Acute peripheral ischemia
- Decompression sickness
- Enhanced healing in selected problem wounds (primarily diabetic wounds)
- Severe anemia due to exceptional blood loss
- Necrotizing soft tissue infections
- Refractory osteomyelitis
- Delayed radiation injury (soft tissue and bony necrosis)
- Compromised skin grafts and flaps
- Carbon monoxide poisoning
- Idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss
- Thermal burns
